If you don’t believe it ask fashion designer Nikasha Tawadey whose spring summer collection as per its title —Wandering Minstrels — has actually been inspired by the minstrels called Bauls from Bengal.

“I am come from Kolkata and during my childhood days, I’d often see these wandering minstrels — the gypsy types — who’d travel across regions where they’d just dance and sing to spread the message of universal brotherhood.

So when I decided to do a collection with influences from different cultures and places, I felt that in some way, my creations are just like them — at least in spirit — and hence, the name of the collection,” reasons Nikasha, whose summer ‘08 collection will be previewed at Ogaan this Wednesday.

Speaking about the collection, Nikasha notes that the hand-woven jamdani work is a strong feature
